美中实验学校从建校起就确定了”寓教于乐”的教学宗旨和”小班制”的格局,尽管办学成本较高,但实践证明,这是一条保证教学品质,同时得到广大学生和家长欢迎的正确路线。熟悉我们的家长都知道,“主课鲜明、副课丰富”是美中实验学校的特色。为了让每个学生都能选择到适合自己学习的教材,我们带着专业的眼光,基本比对了市面上所有的主流海外中文教材,有中国国内编写的,也有海外本土编写的,经过反复的讨论和筛选,先后确定了《暨大中文》、《马立平中文》、《新双双中文》和《美洲华语》四套中文教材运用于我校的中文教学中,大华府的中文学校大概也就仅此一家。

学校根据使用的四套教材,分别设置了四个中文教研室,每个教研室由教研室主任全面管理,培训和指导教师教学,保证教学质量。学生人数占全校三分之二的马立平教研室根据不同年级分设年级组长,各班老师在年级组长带领下统一备课,统一教程,相互学习交流教学经验。教学管理井井有条。学校的教师都拥有大学或更高的教育背景,半数以上具有硕士或博士学位,或者是来自国内大中学校,拥有多年教学经验的优秀教师。他们中的许多还兼任美国公立学校老师,熟悉美国本土孩子的心理特点和美中两国的教学方法。值得一提的是,我校有五分之三以上的老师通过了《汉语知识与能力》、《汉语教学及中华文化》和《汉语教学实践》三轮严格的笔试考核,以及“汉语教学实践”视频的评估,并获得了由国际华文教师职业能力认证中心颁发的华文教师证书,单科成绩均达到中高级要求。老师们各具才艺,热爱教育事业,对孩子有爱心有耐心,他们在多年的教学实践中,形成了一套完整的教学和管理经验,让孩子们学得愉快,学得有趣。他们是美中实验学校的宝贵财富。

为了提高教学品质,学校组织各个教研室在每年暑假期间和开学前,根据本教研室的实际情况,对新教师进行上岗前培训,对在职教师进行岗位培训。学校每学期还举办有教师研讨会,并邀请校外经验丰富的老师与本校老师们共同探讨教学上的心得体会和大家关心的问题。学校也会组织轻松的老师聚会和会餐,加深互相了解,使整个团体更具凝聚力和向心力,不断提高教师们对教学的信心和水平。

在我们学校的每个学生都能选择到适合自己的中文教材,孩子们学习中文的兴趣不断提高,老师们也由此创新出了众多教学方法,取得了理想的教学效果。我校已连续8年出版了孩子们自己的作文集《滴水穿石集》;同时,学校参加AP和SAT中文考试的学生人数和获得高分甚至满分成绩的人数逐年增加。在2019学年里,参加AP中文考试的20名就读洛城校区的同学,全部获得了满分五分的优异成绩。

Since the establishment of the school, the ACS has determined the teaching purpose of “education through fun” and the structure of “small class”. Although the cost of running a school is relatively high, practice has proved that this is a way to not only ensure the quality of teaching but attract students and Parents on the right route. Parents who are familiar with us know that “Bright Main Courses, Rich Enrichment Classes” is the characteristic of the ACS School. In order to allow every student to choose a textbook suitable for their study, we took a professional perspective and basically compared all the mainstream overseas Chinese textbooks on the market, including those compiled in China or overseas. After discussion and carefully screening, it was determined that four Chinese textbooks, namely “JiDa  Chinese”, “MaLiPing Heritage Chinese”, “Shuangshuang Chinese” and “MeiZhou Chinese”. ACS should be the only one school used 4 sets of the Chinese teaching materials.

According to the four sets of teaching materials used, the school has set up four Chinese teaching and research committees. Each teaching and research committee is fully managed by the director of education to train and guide teachers to ensure the quality of teaching. The MaLiping (Heritage) Teaching and Research Committee, which accounts for two-thirds of the school’s students, has level group leaders according to different grades. Under the leadership of the level group leaders, each class teacher prepares lessons, unified tutorials, and learns from each other and exchanges teaching experience. Teaching management is well organized. The teachers in the school have a university or higher education background, and more than half have a master’s or doctorate degree,  or are excellent teachers from domestic universities and middle schools with many years of teaching experience. Many of them also serve as teachers in American public schools and are familiar with the psychological characteristics of American children and the teaching methods of the United States and China. It is worth mentioning that more than three-fifths of the teachers in our school have passed the three-round strict written examinations of “Chinese Language Knowledge and Ability”, “Chinese Language Teaching and Chinese Culture” and “Chinese Teaching Practice”, as well as “Chinese Teaching Practice” “Video evaluation, and obtained a Chinese teacher certificate issued by the International Chinese Teacher Professional Ability Certification Center, and the individual subject scores have reached the intermediate and high-level requirements. The teachers have their own talents, love education, and are caring and patient with children. Through years of teaching practice, they have formed a complete set of teaching and management experience, allowing children to learn happily with immense interest.  They are a valuable asset of ACS School.

In order to improve the quality of teaching, the school organizes each teaching and research committee to conduct pre-job training for new teachers and on-the-job training for in-service teachers during the summer vacation and before the beginning of school. The school also holds teacher seminars every semester and invites experienced teachers outside the school to discuss teaching experience and issues that everyone cares about. The school will also organize teacher gatherings and dinners to deepen mutual understanding, make the whole team more cohesive with same value system, and continuously improve teachers’ confidence and level.

Every student in our school can choose a Chinese textbook that suits them. Children’s interest in learning Chinese continues to increase. Teachers have also innovated many teaching methods and achieved ideal teaching results. Our school has published the children’s own essay collection “Dripping through the stone” for 8 consecutive years. At the same time, the number of students taking AP and SAT Chinese exams and the number of students getting high scores or even full scores has increased year by year. In the 2019 school year, 20 students from the Rockville campus who took the AP Chinese test all got full scores of five points.
